NBW is honored to have been selected to work with the founders, staff, and board members at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens (CMBG) in creating a masterplan for the next 20 years. Located on Maine’s charismatic Atlantic coast in Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor, Maine, CMBG is one of America’s newest and most innovative public gardens. The mission of Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens revolves around protecting, preserving, and enhancing the botanical heritage and natural landscapes of coastal Maine for people of all ages through horticulture, education, and research. This mission aligns with the design values of Nelson Byrd Woltz in honoring, revealing, and celebrating the place and flora of a unique regional ecology. NBW is in the process of developing the masterplan for the 248 acre property in conjunction with a talented team of consultants including wetland ecologists, environmental engineers and programmatic and cultural assessors. This process will lead to the creation of a framework and vision for extending and deepening the already rich experience of visitorship at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.
