Citygarden Awarded ULI's 2011 Amanda Burden Urban Open Space Award

05.19.11

Citygarden, a 2.9-acre park and sculpture garden located in the heart of downtown St. Louis, achieved national recognition this week as the 2011 winner of the ULI's Amanda Burden Open Space Award.

The Urban Land Institute's Amanda Burden Urban Open Space Award celebrates and promotes vibrant, successful urban open spaces by annually recognizing and rewarding an outstanding example of a public destination that has enriched and revitalized its surrounding community.

In a May 19th article on ULI's website, New York Planning Commissioner Amanda Burden had this to say about the project, "Citygarden is a stunning example of what great public open space design can do for an urban area. The garden's design succeeds in attracting users of every background. The interplay between art, landscape, imaginative seating and water features has a universal appeal and creates a focal point for St. Louis' downtown. It exemplifies why public space is integral to the health of cities and epitomizes the best of what the Urban Open Space award seeks to foster."
