Anne Pray, Staff Designer

Anne joined Nelson Byrd Woltz in June 2006 following graduation from the University of Virginia with a Master of Landscape Architecture degree. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Geoscience from Boston College in 1998 and soon thereafter discovered the world of gardens and landscape architecture. She worked as a gardener and landscape manager for several companies in Connecticut and Fishers Island, New York before striking out on her own to start a garden design and maintenance company that she transported to Virginia and sustained throughout graduate school. In addition, she served as a project manager for The Brown Companies on the landscape phase of the ‘Houses at Sagaponac’ project, an innovative 65-acre housing development in the Hamptons that challenges conventional wisdom about the design and construction of residential housing. Coursework in Landscape Design at the New York Botanical Gardens deepened her interests and led her to pursue a master’s degree. During graduate school, Anne interned at the offices of NBWLA and Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Inc. She also served as a graduate teaching assistant during the eight-week summer introductory session at UVA. Since joining NBW, Anne has worked on several large residential projects in Virginia.
